Kathy A. Ryan, CPNP

I have a passion for caring for children that began at age 4 when I was hospitalized for pneumonia and asthma. From that day forward, I planned to become a pediatric nurse and have enjoyed every minute of my career. I started my career at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. While in Texas, I obtained my Master’s in pediatrics and my ARNP. After 6 years, my husband and I decided to return to Wichita, Kansas so that our children could be closer to their grandparents. While living in Wichita, I taught nursing at WSU and worked as an ARNP at both a military installation and the largest physician-run clinic in Kansas. My experiences in Wichita allowed me to watch children grow from infancy through adolescence and to be part of their lives. It has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of my patients’ lives – from hearing about their first days in school to seeing a patient rush into our office to tell me that she made the varsity soccer team as a freshman.

As every parent dreams, my children have grown into productive adults and after finishing college chose to settle away from the Wichita area. My husband and I are now relocating to the Kansas CIty area to be closer to our children and our first grandchild.

While in Wichita, I was very involved with children with dyslexia and participated in diagnosing and finding appropriate tutoring for these children. I’m motivated by the tenacity of these children, and these services are now available in our Higginsville office. I also served on the Sedgwick County Family and Youth Commission, the DUI Victims Panel, volunteered at the Lord’s Diner, coached volleyball, served as a Girl Scout Leader, and have acted as a preceptor for pediatric nurse practitioner students. In my free time, I enjoy stained glass, reading, traveling with my husband, and watching my grandchildren grow.

I am honored to participate in your child’s care. Parenting is one of the biggest blessings life has to offer and I know how special your little ones are to you. I will always care for your child as I would want my own children to be cared for. I will be there to provide any help and guidance necessary as you progress in your child’s journey from infancy to adulthood. My greatest satisfaction has always been and will continue to be, knowing that I made a difference in a child’s life.
