B. Ashley Campbell, DO

I decided to pursue a career in medicine after attending a prenatal appointment with my mom at the age of 5. The sound of my youngest sister’s heartbeat was the most miraculous thing I had ever heard. I was in awe that the doctor at my mom’s appointment was able to experience moments like this every day. As a kid I loved science (my favorite toy was a microscope), so I couldn’t imagine a better future career. As I began my education and medical training, my passion for caring for children grew. My clinical time in pediatrics felt more like playtime rather than work. The potential I saw in my young patients seemed endless, and the ability to help parents navigate the trials and tribulations of raising children was exciting. Now, many years later, I can’t imagine working in any other field.

I have spent the last 7 years practicing in the area and am pleased to be joining Cockerell and McIntosh in the summer of 2019. I grew up in Excelsior Springs, MO, and aside from the 4 years spent obtaining my undergraduate degree from Missouri State University, I have spent my entire life in the Kansas City area. After completing my undergraduate degree, I went to medical school at KCUMB and did my pediatric residency at KU. After completing a chief year at KU, I went on to start working as a general pediatrician.

My passion is to help little ones grow to be healthy and successful adults. As a mom of 3, I strive to be the kind of pediatrician I would want to bring my own children to. I love the relationships that I am able to build with my patients and their families. I see my role as helping families navigate the challenges of infancy, childhood, and adolescence, including everything from the everyday struggles to the unimaginable. When I am not at work, I am a busy mom of 2 little boys, and a baby girl. My husband, Scott, is a local emergency room doctor. We love traveling, when our schedule allows, and if we are not at home you can often find us at the local ball fields or Kauffman Stadium catching a game.

When I have free time, I am an avid reader. I have always been a fan of the classics, Jane Austen, Ernest Hemingway, Charlotte Bronte to name a few, but these days my favorite authors tend to be Dr. Seuss, J.K. Rowling, and Eric Carle. I look forward to meeting you!
