Annette M. Beck, MD

While growing up, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. However, with my quiet personality, I couldn’t imagine standing up in front of a classroom of students. I knew I loved science, so I studied biology in college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Texas Christian University. However, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. After working in a hospital lab for a year, I discovered that I wanted to take care of patients, not just their blood samples. From there, I went to the University of Kansas School of Medicine and then on to Indianapolis, where I completed my pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. I was the first and only person in my family to enter the medical field.

Since joining Cockerell & McIntosh Pediatrics in 1999, I have worked to bring several new programs and services to our patients. I am most proud to be the office’s medical director of Reach Out and Read (ROR), a national program that provides free books to children at their well visits from birth to age 5. It was a joy to bring a love of books to my own children and I hope to do the same for your children.

While at the office, I have been called Dr. Dora (because of my hair I guess), Dr. Cookie (you’ll see why at the office), and Dr. Seuss (because I give out books for ROR). Most of the time, however, I’m known as Dr. Beck, the one who loves to see children smile, hear them laugh and watch them grow. Because I truly care about your child’s health, I will work hard to listen carefully to you, treat you with respect, and take your concerns seriously. Call to schedule your child’s appointment now to see what our practice has to offer!
